Lavender Plant and Flower: Lavender, known also as flos lavandulae romanae, is an odorous plant, flowering in blue and white colors.

The Benefits of Lavender: It is mitigating and stimulating. It is diuretic and gas expectorant. It is beneficial for the abdominal distension and migraine headaches. It reduces the rheumatism complaints. It is disinfectant and its smell gives to the body power and relief. It is good for patients with fever. The lavender, very beneficial especially for liver, helps the liver to function regularly. Through this specification its benefit is seen in diseases such as liver failure, hepatitis B and C, jaundice. When the lavender flower oil is compressed to the closed eye, it strengthens the eyes and gives comfort.

It is indicated that the lavender oil, one of the 15 important volatile substances produced in the world, is effective by overcoming the stress and has the specification of calming and soothing the nervous system.

It is emphasized that the lavender oil has also very strong antiseptic (disinfectant) and antibiotic (bactericide) effect. It is stated that the herbal teas, made of the seared lavender gemma, make the relaxing effect for the human body.

The lavender agriculture is started to be made in Kuyucak quarter in Keçiborlu town in Isparta. It is seen that the lavender suits well to the infertile, curved and especially not irrigable areas of the quarter.

The lavender in Isparta comes into flower in July and the lavender valley shaping in blue both catches the visitors’ eyes and is plenty of nectar and pollen source for the bees, producing aromatic and healing honey.

Süleyman Demirel University (SDU) Rose and Rose Products Research and Application Centre (GÜLAR) Director Prof. Dr. Hasan Baydar explained that the lavender oil, produced in Isparta commonly, has the specifications such as soothing the nervous system, somnific and calming and so it has an important position by overcoming the stress.
